Scholarships

In addition to university scholarship programs, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Department of Dairy Science offer strong scholarship programs.  Several of these scholarships are specifically for entering freshmen and transfer students.

Through the generosity of numerous industry groups and individuals, the Dairy Science Department is pleased to be able to present over $85,000 in awards each year.

New and returning students who wish to be considered for Dairy Science scholarships are required to complete the Virginia Tech Scholarship Central  Application. 

*Please note that new/prospective students must complete the application by the deadline, even though one’s admission status may not be known by that date.*

The Department of Dairy Science uses the university application to make its scholarship awards.  Departmental awards are presented to Dairy Science first majors only.  There are certain questions in the application that are tailored for students who identify themselves as Dairy Science majors.

Financial Need

Nearly every student is concerned about meeting the expenses of attending college. Numerous sources of financial assistance such as scholarships and grants, low interest loans, and work study programs that are funded by federal, state and private sources are available for deserving students. Financial award decisions are based on need, academic record and other personal qualifications, and vary according to the award or program.

To be considered for financial aid and for need-based scholarships, one must complete a FAFSA application.
